Elite night credits earned on IHG's Chase credit cards stack with no apparent limit, which could help you reach Milestone Rewards perks like club lounge access and suite upgrades.

If you have all 3 cards and as a result 50 elite nights, do you have all the milestone benefits of 50 elite nights ?

@Ben. You sure about that ? I'm hearing a lot of noise that that's not the case.

@ BBT -- Are you asking if I'm sure the elite night credits count toward Milestone Rewards? Yes, absolutely, that's the whole point of them. Why else would a card that lets you earn Diamond with spending also offer elite night credits, since that's redundant?

But if you get all 3 cards can you stack the elite nights? That would make them 50 elite nights if they are stackable.

@ BBT -- That is my understanding, correct.

I have held the Premium card for several years, and I applied for and received the new Premium Select card. The twenty nights credit for the Premium Select card have been added to my account, but I’m not seeing the ten nights from my old Premium card. Should I be expecting the credit from my existing card, or is there some wrinkle I’m not aware of that prevents them in the current year?

@Mike B, Ben and other covered this already, and I think IHG announced this as well. If you're an existing cardholder, the 5 (Traveler) 15 (Premier/Business) elite nights post next year. If you applied on/after 10/1, you get them immediately. The F&B credits from the cards should already be in your account, though.

Enjoy this while it lasts.
A new club lounge horde is coming to an IHG near you.

This will be a train wreck for IC club lounges. WTH were they thinking? Lounges are already crowded at many/most properties, but now they will be so overrun, they will need waitlists. This just blows my mind. I expect these changes will ultimately cause hotel operators to just eliminate their lounges.

Will the elite nights stack if you have more than one of the same type of card? For example if you have 2 Premier cards, will they still give you 30 nights?

@ Lee -- I can't say so with 100% certainty, but I see nothing in the terms suggesting that they wouldn't. Of course that's not to say that the terms couldn't be updated in the future.

"After that, the 15 ENCs will be deposited into your IHG One Rewards account by February 1 each calendar year. You can only receive 15 ENCs, regardless of the number of IHG One Rewards cards that are linked with a IHG One Rewards account."

That last bit has me worried that, similar to Marriott's ENCs, you can't stack the ENCs with IHG. So if you have all 3 cards, you could only get 20 (best of all three), or perhaps 35 (20 from personal and 15 from business).

@ rolexian -- These were the old terms, before they were updated. Do you still actually see these terms listed anywhere?

I had considered cutting spending on IHG and settling for Diamond rather than Royal Ambassador, but that no longer seems like such a great idea because soon everyone will be Diamond.

Spending that much on the IHG card just for Diamond isn't worth it.

I don't spend any money on IHG credit cards. Royal Ambasador is InterContinental's highest status, which is granted on a mysterious, non-published spending requirement at IHG's luxury brands. I was considering discontinuing spending $20k-25k per year on IHG luxury hotels and just settling for the Diamond benefits becuase they aren't drastically different (on paper, anyway). However, once half the customers are Diamond, being Royal Ambassador will be relatively more valuable since you will recive top priorirty for suite upgrades and lounge access. I think I will stay the course becuase we do get suites upgrades very consistently at most InterContinental hotels.

I would agree with you from experience.

It seems IC doesn't doesn't give Diamond better treatment than AMB. And being both doesn't stack. So if you're staying a lot of IC, being RA will help you more much much more.

If you can maintain RA, I feel it's the most undervalued status from the most overlooked brand.
But if IHG to you is anything other than Kimpton or IC, skip Diamond.

@Gene Yeah and it has been good being an IHG Diamond Ambassador (Diamond earned the hard way of course) but now it may be end of a good run with IHG if it really is true that earning at least 40 nights can all be done with credit cards from the U.S. The hotel owners may dilute the lounge experience. And they really do treat you well as a Diamond Ambassador with lounge access pass. So, the elite status and benefits do stack well at least in Asia. So many times at check in they would list what I get as a Diamond member and as an Ambassador member and of course lounge access.

@michelle yes you should have access to the Regent HK lounge with this annual lounge pass but some hotels are playing games. For example, this lounge pass will not grant you access to the much better Tai Pan lounge at the Regent Taipei unless your room includes it so you can only use the Balcony Lounge which is worse than a typical The Club Lounge in the U.S. Basically, you get finger sandwiches, bite sized mini cakes, and nachos with soft drinks and juice. You get very mediocre wine and you do get bottled beer. When it comes to the finger sandwiches the hotel sure gives the finger to those who earned 40 or 70 night milestone rewards the hard way.

@ michelle -- Hah, honestly the Regent Hong Kong Club lounge is one of the primary reasons I'm tempted to go for 40 elite nights. 🙂

@Ben You really should try it but it is meaningless at the Regent Taipei.
