World of Hyatt has replaced its 500-bonus-points-per-night new hotel offer with a double points rate, though the new deal comes with real tradeoffs.

So, the new offer sucks because a lot of rates don't apply to it? Got it.

[This is annoying because two new properties opened in my area recently.]

Many properties already have a double points rate. So they are actually taking something away.

This goes double since the double points rate is often a bad deal net of the best available price.

That is funny how they realized their original offer wasn't good enough. Bah!

Maybe Hyatt should start awarding points when their new hotels don't open on time and they cancel your booking without support or other compensation.

Very surprised you are not covering the hijacking of Israelis aboard Fly Dubai... You would think that would be some very big news for an aviation blog...

"this might just be yet another cost cutting initiative on World of Hyatt’s part"

Hyatt is cashing in on years of investment in their loyalty program. They are hoping that the irrational justifications we use for [free breakfast, confirmed suite upgrades, promotions] will make us to ignore how much programmatic value extraction is happening.
