Strongly recommend to check with Capital one’s preapproval tool before applying. The preapproval tool may confuse you with so many similar named card, which is unique to capital one (remember the high yield 360 saving scam?).
Have never had either card (or any credit cards) from C1, but would like to, especially now that their lounges are actually really good. (Got a taste of the one at JFK T4 thanks to SQ in J; very impressive). I'd hope to get the Venture X, soon, but, I'm still not getting the 'green light' from their VX-specific pre-approval tool. So, insiders, please, what's the 'secret sauce', here? Would starting with Venture then upgrading to X even be a thing (oh, forgoing the VX-specific SUB, but, like Venture is practically the same 75K, no?) There's no reconsideration line, and 3 bureaus ain't great for a denial; would a personal letter from Ben (or Gary) help? Do I need to literally start working there, and do this from 'the inside'? I don't even wanna freakin' churn this; like, VX actually seems like a keeper card. C1 peeps, c'mon, show me the way!
