Pamela Anderson ‘couldn’t stand’ lip gloss, so she made something better

Pamela Anderson cherry-picks her products carefully.

The “Baywatch” icon has become know for her minimalist, mindful approach to beauty. And her Sonsie skin care brand’s latest launch, the limited-edition Wild Groundcherry Basic Balm, is no exception.

She developed it based on an “unexpected and lovely” wild fruit she found in her own garden — but, much like a fall harvest, the stock won’t last forever.

“We only made so many, and then those will be gone,” the actress told the Zoe Report. “Then I’ll just have to find something else … I feel like a little fairy in my garden. I always say I’m Sonsie’s garden fairy godmother.”

Unlike the original Basic Balm, the Wild Groundcherry version offers a subtle, warm golden shimmer — an effect created without any actual glitter or microplastics.

The formula isn’t sticky-feeling, either — something that was very important to Anderson.

“In photo shoots and things that I’ve done, all the way from the ‘80s and ‘90s, I couldn’t stand lip gloss,” she told People.

“The stickiness of it … I could just feel it on my lips. That’s why this is such a unique product. It had to be super hydrating to give you the effect without feeling like you’ve got stuff on your lips that’s irritating you.”

Furthering the brand’s commitment to ingredient transparency, Sonsie also discloses every fragrance ingredient in the balm — rather than simply stating “fragrance,” like some products.

The vegan formula comes on the heels of Anderson’s first limited-edition lip launch, a rhubarb balm last November.

“I wanted to create a way to use cruelty-free products so nothing harmful would get in the way of a great day,” the longtime activist told Page Six Style exclusively at the time, saying her label is a “reflection of love.”
