Taylor Swift crashed Dakota Johnsonβs βSaturday Night Liveβ opening monologue, joining her onstage as her relationship βtherapistβ before returning later for a birthday celebration.
Johnson poked fun at her “two very public, very lame breakups with two very awesome musicians” when the βCruel Summerβ singer suddenly joined her Saturday night.
βSome of them donβt wear shoes, some of them are terrible in bed. All of them are in my DMs. Not my fault, though. Some people leave concerts with merch, I leave concerts with a two-and-a-half-year relationship,β Johnson said as she compared her relationships to the theme of her new thriller “Verity.”
βBut I have really good friends. They donβt judge me for dating these men. Theyβre actually really supportive,β Johnson added.
Swift then walked onto the 30 Rock stage to huge cheers.
βLadies and gentlemen, my literal therapist,β Johnson said.
βIβm not your therapist, actually. You just show up at my house once a week with an empty bottle of wine and ask me if I want some,β the “Patient Zero” singer quipped.
βYeah, I have manners,β Johnson said.
βAnd then you flop on my couch and overshare and every so often I just say, βDamn, thatβs crazy.β Then I go, βItβs late, I should really go to bed.β And then you say β¦β Swift continued.
βSleepover yay!β Johnson excitedly interrupted.
βThen I give you a Pedialyte and my security drives you home,β Swift said, patting Johnson on the back.
Johnson also joked that she is doing a public service by dating male musicians and saving women βa lot of moneyβ on antidepressant Zoloft.
βSo youβre welcome, America. Also England and parts of Ireland and Cleveland, allegedly,β she said, referencing rumors that she has been dating Machine Gun Kelly, a Cleveland native.
The “Fate of Ophelia” singer whooped in response to the mention of Cleveland, the hometown of her husband, Travis Kelce, and where the couple plans to live.
Swift then excitedly pointed out that it was Johnsonβs birthday as the actress kicked off the show.
Swift returned at the end of the night to surprise Johnson with a birthday cake as the host celebrated turning 37 during the show.
This is the ninth time Swift has appeared on “SNL,” including as a musical guest for four shows, hosting once, and four cameos.
Johnson stars alongside Colin Farrell in Swiftβs latest music video, βPatient Zero,β which Swift directed and co-starred in.
The video premiered during the MTV Video Music Awards last Sunday and follows Johnson and Farrell as an upper-class couple whose marriage appears to be falling apart.
Johnsonβs dating history with musicians includes Noah Gersh, whom she dated from 2007 to 2010, followed by Drowners frontman Mathew Hitt from 2014 to 2016.
She dated Coldplay frontman Chris Martin from 2017 until 2025. In 2026, Johnson and musician Role Model split after less than a year of dating.
More recently, Johnson and Machine Gun Kelly have sparked casual romance rumors after reportedly hitting it off at Swift and Kelceβs wedding in July.
