When financing government contractors, understanding the scope of lender protections under the Assignment of Claims Act can make a meaningful difference in risk assessment and recovery strategy. In their latest article for The Procurement Lawyer, Husch Blackwell attorneys Eric Singley and Michael Schrier explore how lenders’ recoveries may be measured under the Assignment of Claims Act, examining key legal considerations that can influence outcomes when disputes arise. The discussion offers valuable insights for lenders, government contractors, and professionals navigating the complexities of federal procurement and secured financing. As government contracting continues to evolve, staying informed on the intersection of procurement law and commercial lending is critical for managing risk and protecting financial interests. #GovernmentContracts #FederalContracting #ProcurementLaw #FinancialServices #RiskManagement

Purgo Holdings, a portfolio company of Wincove Private Holdings, has completed the sale of FIS Water to SPX Technologies in a transaction valued at approximately $410 million. In 2018, Wincove formed FIS by partnering with several water industry executives. FIS Water has approximately 120 employees and joins SPX Technologies’ HVAC segment, where it will operate within the company's Cooling platform. Congratulations to Purgo Holdings on this significant milestone. The Husch Blackwell deal team was led by Kirstin Pace Salzman and Bert Seefeldt and included attorneys from the firm's corporate, benefits, tax, intellectual property, environmental, antitrust, real estate, labor and employment, banking and finance, and international trade practices. Recent developments in eDiscovery and electronically stored information were the focus of a Case Law Update at the National eDiscovery Leadership Institute. Husch Blackwell Senior Counsel Jennifer Lin Cavner moderated the discussion, which explored the growing importance of preserving evidence to avoid spoliation sanctions and the increasing impact of AI on discovery obligations and strategy. The panel also examined significant case law developments and practical lessons from recent decisions involving preservation, proportionality, discovery disputes, sanctions, and the use of technology in litigation. Thank you to the National eDiscovery Leadership Institute and University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law for hosting the program. #eDiscovery #LegalTechnology #Litigation

The matter culminated in a rare federal court decision vacating a $48 million arbitration award on grounds of fraud, bringing years of litigation to a close. Congratulations to OptumRx and our Husch Blackwell team of Jim Monafo, Tanya Maerz, Jeff Whitney, Erica Conklin Baines, Sam Thomas, Kasey Groneck, and senior paralegal Chris Herrmann on this significant result.
