Avelo Founder & CEO Andrew Levy recently joined the Airlines Confidential Podcast for a wide-ranging conversation about his career, our business strategy, and Avelo's path forward. Here's what he touched on: • 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲-𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: his time at ValueJet and Allegiant, and the lessons he learned about hiring and developing a strong executive team. • 𝗔 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆: going the other direction from what everyone else was doing, with a network built around convenient small airports closer to where our Customers live instead of crowded hubs. • 𝗠𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵: a strong year, and our newest base at McKinney National Airport (DTX), opening Nov. 11 with nine nonstop destinations and about 150 new jobs in North Texas. • 𝗔 𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: our order for up to 100 Embraer 195-E2 aircraft, making Avelo the first U.S. airline to order Embraer's largest commercial jet.   • 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲: why fuel is both a challenge and an opportunity for the business. • 𝗔 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲: our focus on what we call affordable convenience. Today we announced four new nonstop routes and a third based aircraft at McKinney National Airport (DTX), increasing our Collin County hometown network to nine destinations. Beginning Dec. 16, Avelo will fly from DTX to Denver (DEN) and Atlanta (ATL), followed on Dec. 17 by New Orleans (MSY) and Nashville, Tennessee (BNA).   The new routes join our inaugural DTX service, which begins on Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11, with nonstop flights to Las Vegas, Nevada (LAS) and four Florida cities: Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Fort Myers (RSW), Orlando (MCO) and Tampa (TPA). With today's announcement, we'll base a third 184-seat Boeing NG 737-800 at DTX, and with the third aircraft, our investment will create approximately 150 jobs at our Texas-based airline. Today, we're proud to announce McKinney National Airport's (DTX) first commercial service, making Avelo Collin County's first and only hometown airline.
