What should the next Weekend Challenge theme be??

The next DEV Weekend Challenge launches next week, and we have some ideas up our sleeves, but we thought crowd-sourcing the theme would be a fun way to collect ideas from the community.

What do you think the next theme should be?

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Themes should be globally-minded and all inclusive.
    • Holiday themes are fun, but not all countries observe the same holidays
    • Season specific themes are tough because they differ from region to region
  • Challenges should not require certain technologies or hardware. We want these events to be accessible to everyone.
  • Participation is always free.

Check out our past Weekend Challenges for inspiration

Now, hit us with your suggestions. Perhaps yours will be select for this next challenge or a future one!

As always, the theme will be announced when the challenge launches on September 3rd, 2:00AM UTC.

I'm excited to see your ideas!

Better than AI. A challenge where the goal is to show that there's scenarios where throwing AI at it, doesnt make it easier, or solves the problem (I'm sure some will try though).

Would be interesting to see both wins and losses, given you'd think AI is bad at GUI design, until you consider skills files... So where do we still win?

Wars are going on in multiple places of the world at the moment. These wars are affecting everyone, no matter where you are, and the worrying thing is, these wars are escalating!

People may have different opinions about these wars, but it is clear that most people want a peaceful world.

So let's have a weekend challenge with the theme: World Peace.

Make Some Noise Edition
Build something inspired by sound, music, audio, rhythm, voice, or anything else that makes a little noise. It could be a music visualizer, soundboard, rhythm game, audio experiment, voice-powered tool, or something that interprets “make some noise” a little more creatively.

How about "Why Dev". Interpret how you will, whether it refers to DEV.to, why the person develops, why we call ourselves devs, etc. ambiguity creates creativity and I think can lead to some fun projects and insightful posts.

Cats think all the 365 days (+1 in every 4 years) belong to them.
Let's not disrespect them by placing them at the same level as dogs 😆
